In an unexpected move, French President Emmanuel Macron has called for snap legislative elections after a dismal showing in the EU elections. His centrist bloc was outpaced by the far-right National Rally party, which won nearly double the votes. Macron expressed his commitment to democratic process and the upcoming elections are set to begin on June 17.
