Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will not seek re-election as the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party in the upcoming September election. Kishida, who became LDP president in 2021, cited the need for new leadership following corruption scandals and declining support. His exit paves the way for new candidates, including Toshimitsu Motegi, Taro Kono, Sanae Takaichi, and Yoko Kamikawa.
